The OSM100100 Osmometer accurately measures the total osmolality of aqueous solutions using the Freezing Point Depression method. Osmolality refers to the number of osmotically active particles, such as salt ions, urea, or proteins, present per kilogram of water. Adding solutes lowers the solvent's freezing point, with pure water freezing at 0°C and a 1 Osm/kg solution freezing at -1.858°C. This relationship allows precise osmolality determination for various applications.
