The Thermo Sorvall LYNX 6000 features exceptional performance and cutting-edge technologies such as auto-ID instant rotor identification that automatically loads and displays rotor parameters on the touchscreen interface, push-button auto-lock rotor exchange, and energy-efficiency use options and a Smart Vacuum feature for reduced energy consumption.
The LYNX 6000 is compatible with a total of 19 rotors that can spin tubes in a variety of sizes, from microtubes to 1L bottles to microplates. The fixed angle rotors for the LYNX 6000 are lightweight Fiberlite carbon fiber rotors with corrosion- and fatigue-resistance secures the rotor's structural integrity.
The Centri-Touch touchscreen interface has a bright, highly visible and durable display that simplifies set up. The Lynx 6000 allows program storage of up to 120 user inputted programs. The drive system features a high torque brushless motor for years of virtually maintenance free use and quiet operation at less than 59dBA.
This Lynx 6000 comes with the Fiberlite F9-6-1000 LEX fixed angle rotor, which is designed for bioprocessing (up to 6L per run) and offering the flexibility of adapters for labware from 1.5 to 500mL (purchased directly from Thermo Scientific.
Thermo Scientific Fiberlite rotors maximize centrifuge performance with versatility, speed and a robust, corrosion-free design. Large metal centrifuge rotors often present a unique lifting hazard in the laboratory due to their weight and awkward shape.
Lightweight Fiberlite rotors—up to 60% less weight than metallic rotors —facilitate a safer work environment and minimize risk of damage to centrifugation equipment as a result of these ergonomic improvements. Additionally, these lightweight properties result in faster acceleration/deceleration rates for shorter run times.
Traditionally, the primary cause of rotor failure is from damage to metal surfaces due to moisture, chemicals or alkaline solutions that weaken the metal rotor’s structural integrity. Carbon fiber composite rotors are corrosion-resistant, eliminating this ever-present hazard, and are safe to use with most mild laboratory detergents and solutions, providing easy rotor care and maintenance.
Substantial load or stress, as a result of high rotational speeds and repeat cycles, can also threaten metal rotor structure by causing it to stretch and change in size, limiting rotor life or leading to failure. Thermo Scientific Fiberlite rotors are fatigue-resistant, mitigating this threat.
The next generation of high capacity Fiberlite rotors, the Fiberlite LEX rotor series, further advances the current carbon fiber design, combining even lower mass with low kinetic energy to deliver superior ergonomics with outstanding performance and safety.
Fiberlite LEX rotors take the lightweight design of carbon fiber to a whole new level; these rotors are the lightest of their kind, further improving ergonomics and ease of handling.
Secure, push-button rotor exchange in as little as 3 seconds and allows for: Improved safety and confidence that the rotor is automatically and securely locked and will not loosen during a run; flexibility to quickly change rotors and applications, matching the needs of your laboratory.
Immediate identification of a rotor when secured in the centrifuge chamber, with rotor specifications automatically loaded into the centrifuge parameters. Shortens run set-up time by eliminating the need to find and set rotor codes. Eliminates over-speed risk, reduces error messages, and improves centrifuge, sample and operator safety.
Accelerates and simplifies rotor lid tightening, ensuring lid is properly attached and is easier and safer for lifting and carrying rotors, further enhanced with the lightweight design.

Most of our equipment is used and reconditioned. Our technicians test the performance of all centrifuges and make sure the rotating assembly is properly balanced; the bearings, seals and gaskets on the spindle assembly are in good shape; and the controls work properly.
If the centrifuge is refrigerated we also test to make sure that the machine reaches and hold temperature properly. All tolerances are measured and the exterior and interior of all units are fully cleaned. If the unit is being purchased with a rotor we test the rotor/centrifuge combination together.
The photos above are representative. Please bear in mind that the equipment shown is currently in storage in our warehouse and that in addition to testing each machine we will clean all the equipment thoroughly prior to shipment.
We often have multiple units of each model in stock and sometimes we're unable to feature photos of every single unit. At your request, we can provide photos of the equipment in your order after it has been tested and cleaned.

Yes, all equipment from American Instrument Exchange comes with a warranty.
Used/reconditioned/refurbished equipment is tested to make sure it operates to the manufacturer’s specifications and comes with a 90-day warranty (unless otherwise noted). New equipment comes with a warranty from the manufacturer.
Testing requirements vary across all the equipment categories we sell. Temperature controlled units are tested with NIST traceable probes and data loggers. Gaskets, external housing, glass, handles, controls and control screens are all thoroughly inspected for integrity and functionality.
We test all equipment using the manufacturer's parameters and specifications to confirm that the unit operates properly. While we may not be able to test for specific analytical applications we do our best to simulate the conditions under which the equipment will be used in your lab. If you have particular testing requirements please let us know and we’ll work with you to make sure these are addressed during testing.
We can ship products both nationally and internationally using a well-established network of transporters. Smaller items will ship via UPS. Larger equipment will be palletized and shipped either LTL or air-ride, depending on the specific equipment and/or delivery requirements. In many cases we can offer inside delivery. Customers are also welcome to make pick-up arrangements using their own preferred carrier.
All shipments are FOB Haverhill, MA. American Instrument Exchange will take reasonable steps to protect the equipment during shipment and the equipment will be fully insured. The customer will be charged for all shipping and handling charges, and fees incurred in the process of delivering the order.
For local customers in and around New England we can offer shipping and delivery using a local moving company trained by our staff to handle and deliver lab equipment. Our local movers can provide either standard dock-to-dock delivery or bring the equipment into your lab and set it in place.
Prior to signing the POD (Proof of Delivery), you are responsible for inspecting the goods for any damage. You MUST note any damage on the POD prior to letting the driver leave. This is to protect you, the receiver of the goods in the unlikely event of any damage. Once you sign the POD free and clear from damage, the goods are then deemed delivered in good order and no further claims would be applicable. This is the standard for all transportation so we want to protect you, our valued client.
American Instrument Exchange will accept the return of any product that is not working as represented and could not be replaced or repaired to the customer’s satisfaction by American Instrument or a technician hired by/vetted by American Instrument Exchange’s during the warranty period. The customer will be responsible for proper packaging of the equipment and all included accessories.
Customers who cancel orders after refurbishing has begun or after delivery where there are no equipment performance issues will be subject to a cancellation and restocking fee of between 20% and 40% and responsible for the full total of the shipping & handling costs for both the delivery and the return of the equipment.
