The 6' Thermo Scientific 1361 B2 biosafety cabinet is designed for microbiological applications involving small amounts of volatile chemicals. It offers an ergonomic design, advanced DC motor technology, and an innovative airflow system for maximum operator safety.

Class II, Type B2 cabinets rely entirely on external exhaust methods, as they lack internal exhaust fans. Compared to the 1300 Series A2 cabinet with a thimble connection, the 1300 Series B2 exhausts more air and incurs higher operating costs.

Thermo Scientific 1361 - Features

Compared to an A2 cabinet, the B2 BSC offers enhanced user protection when handling vapors and gases under aseptic conditions. This cabinet provides superior dilution of volatile chemicals within the work area and prevents even diluted recirculation of these chemicals.

Both thimble-connected A2 and B2 BSCs meet USP <800> guidelines for preparing sterile hazardous and non-hazardous drugs in Class II biological safety cabinets. USP <800> specifies that B2 BSCs are typically used with volatile components, emphasizing their specialized design.

Room air is drawn through the cabinet’s top and HEPA-filtered before entering the work area. Additional air is drawn into the inlet grille, with all contaminated air routed under the work surface. It then moves up the rear plenum, passing through the exhaust HEPA filter. Finally, a remote blower and exhaust system expel 100% of the filtered air from the lab.

Our technicians test each bio safety cabinet to ensure that the controls and blower motor work properly. Unless otherwise specified all bio safety cabinets come with new HEPA filters installed by our technicians at our facility prior to shipment.

Our testing procedures for B2 biosafety cabinets are limited, as we cannot replicate the same conditions as being hard ducted to the outside. We recommend that you contact the manufacturer and certifier (or whoever will be overseeing the installation) to ensure that this B2 total exhaust biosafety cabinet is right for your application, and compatible with your facility.
